Made My Day: Teachers Calling

Nahume and I were told today that one of the criteria for the presentation we finished on Friday is no longer valid. So we wrote our teacher a message about that, and almost immediately after he had written back to us he phoned Nahume out of the blue to discuss our project. What he didn’t know was that I was also video calling her, so I got to listen to their whole conversation (to be fair it was about a project I am part of) but it was the most hilarious thing.

My Life

Hey there!

My life at this moment does not really exist. I study and study and study some more. But, I only have 4 exams left! I’m so close! After I have survived them, I will try to post more.

But currently, all I do is eat, sleep, and study. Because I’m writing LO tomorrow and don’t have to actually study anything for that, or at least I hope so… I spent the whole afternoon in bed, too tired to sleep. I have been so unproductive today, it’s not even funny. Like, sure, I don’t have to do anything for tomorrow, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have work for next week, right? Yeah, well I’m ignoring that now. This has turned into me just complaining about my work, instead of actually doing it.

At some point in the near future, I will post my wrap up for August, but I didn’t read too much, because school hates me!

I’m going to get some sleep, the more the better, right? How is your life doing lately?

How I Study

My exams have started already for this term and I am really, so not looking forward to them. So instead of actually studying, I decided it was a better idea to share how I would study (if I ever get past procrastination)…

  1. Make sure you know what you need to know. Make a list of all the pages you have to study and have them all by your side the whole time.
  2. Make study notes. These can be in any form: flashcards, bullet points, mind maps etc. Do what you want to do. I recommend making these colourful, as it will help your mind absorb the information. But don’t over-colour it. Don’t make it an exploded rainbow. Make a system, a colour for definitions etc.
  3. Read through these notes. And again. And again. Then you can quiz yourself by covering the page (duh). If you learn by hearing, record yourself reading the notes and listen to it a couple of times.
  4. Get others to quiz you. You could also quiz them.
  5. Blurting. I have no clue if this is an actual thing, but Jade from Unjaded Jade recommends it so often that I tried it and woooooow. It really worked for me. Basically, you write down four or five headings from your notes, put them away, and use these headings to write down every single point from your notes. Then, go over them and correct, see if you left anything out. If you did, try it again until you get it right (if you have this mythical thing they call time). This is blurting and it got me through my music exam on Monday.
  6. Before bed and the exam, read through your notes. Just reading, no active recall of effort required.

This is how I try and get information into my brain. Mostly it works, sometimes I’m just too lazy. A lot of the time, actually.

I hope this helps you (I don’t even know whether I wrote this to help you. More like to document my mental place at this time…). Hopefully, it helps. If you have any suggestions, please leave a comment! We all need all the help we can get to pass.

Tiny Update

Yes, I changed the theme of my blog. And I really like it. It is so much prettier than the white I had before. I’m still thinking about the background colour… But I like the new design.

I’m not sure if you are able to comment (if you ever wished to do so) on my posts, because I can’t see a comment section thing. So I’ll have to figure that out. Also, I’m not sure if I want the full posts in an endless scroll setup or if I want to make them small excerpts. We’ll see.

Today our teacher told us what we have to do to pass out Abitur, grade 12 basically. It’s like a fail wherever you turn. So so bad. So my friends and I have decided to move to Canada and live there together. So much fun. If at some point I die in the near future, it’s because my Abitur has killed me. Yay.

I Did It Again

Well hello.

Today I created a studygram account (@julsstudying). Because I am stupid and obviously not content with everything I already have to do. But I am looking forward to posting on there and I am hoping it will motivate me to work.

There are so many people on Instagram who motivate me to study. My favourite is @emmastudiess because her pictures are so so pretty and I love her story updates. PLUS, her handwriting is such goals.

But yes, I will agree. I am stupid. We all know that now. My time is being consumed by useless and unimportant things. But hey, that’s me.

This is just a weird little update of my life. I don’t really know why I’m writing this.

If you have a bookstagram or studygram, leave your name in the comments and I will check it out!

School essay

This is a blog entry I have to do for school describing Capulet’s party from Romeo and Juliet and I would really like some feedback! Also I just feel like posting it, so here goes:

How could you miss it?

The party of the year took place on Sunday and I pity you, if you were not invited. For it was splendid. The hall was decorated fabulously and light danced on every surface. The fires were all lit and on every wall at least half a dozen torches provided a healthy glow (even though we all know that yours truly does not need firelight for such beauty). Capulet really outdid himself with this party.

The breath-taking evening commenced with a humorous speech from the host, Capulet himself, which sent me into even higher spirits. But this was only the beginning! I dare not try to describe the dresses and costumes which were present. And yet I must, because how could I leave you in the dark? The colours were gorgeous; hues of lilac and aquamarine all tones belonging in a sunset! The designs were to die for! Mostly the newest designs, (and those who wore last year’s style, where is your dignity?) and even a never before seen Daphne Dorelli design which everyone is talking about.

The hall was filled with lace and velvet and silk and any other fabrics you can imagine, I’m sure they were present. The masks added a sense of mystery, because I certainly could not tell one charming gentleman apart from the next; they were all the politest specimens I have ever met. Though the dancing was definitely the highlight of this evening, and maybe even the year, there was one couple which took my breath away. The lady, the daughter of the host, was by far the prettiest lady at the party, and the gentleman an extremely handsome man I did not recognise. They were only together for a few moments but I am sure I saw Cupid’s arrows pierce them.

If this party was paradise, then there was no trouble except in the late hours of the night when there was talk of a Montague having been amongst us. I am convinced that this is a rumour for there were many drinks and no Montague would have been that reckless.

As for the mystery couple, I will do a bit of digging and see if I can discover what kind of love affair is happening.

As always, keep sparkling!
